SOLO!

Yes my ride is a solo ride, all by myself, no passenger or support vehicle. But let me explain my reasons for making this a solo journey. My ride is in Honor of and Memory of everyone that deals with cancer, although these people have wonderful husbands and wives, friends and family, THEY are dealing with cancer SOLO. I can't even begin to know what they think or feel when they first hear the words" you have cancer"! or when they go for treatment, or sitting alone at home or in the car. Whatever I deal with on my trip will be nothing compared to all that! So my ride is honoring every single Woman, Man or Child who deals with SOLO.
Yes, I will have riders along the way that will ride some of the miles with me, and places to stay, friends to greet me. What happens on the road and when I sit at night, or rest along the way and every time I start my engine and click into 1st gear (and as Willy Nelson sings about "On the Road Again"), I will be riding Solo. If you have ever ridden a motorcycle you know that every mile you are watching traffic, reading the road, looking at road signs and again watching traffic!! That's a long mental Ride. Now if you know someone with cancer just LOVE and SUPPORT them! This is what I can do, so Love me and Support me. Thank You!

Kids and Dogs

It's Friday! Fair time is revving up for my 4h students and myself. In 9 days the dog show will be almost finished, some last minute training, posters to be finished and let the Judging begin!! A little about my involvement in 4H, I have been an advisor for 27 yrs, 24 officially. I would have NEVER guessed that kids and dogs would mean SO much to me. When I had moved to Michigan for 4yrs, one of the things I missed the most, besides my family, was the Kids and 4H! I have had the privilege of getting to know a lot of families, Parents and their children. I have even started to teach my 4h students children! That's along time.I am the Godfather to Kalene, who is a daughter to 2 of my former 4h students. Even to the point of the 4H students are now my dog show judges, Thanks Jenny and Erika! So to ALL of my 4H families and their Kids and their Children and maybe their Children, as I signed Jenna's paper, "Live Life" Erika and William and your family, Miss you all..

Don't wait do it now.

Last evening I went to My Uncle Dons to visit him and my aunt Linda. I really enjoyed the time talking and getting the up date on my cousins, WOW have I missed a lot. The Moyer side of my family was always close to me and I miss the family reunions. 10 in my fathers family, that equals alot of aunts and uncles and cousins! Miss my Dad the most.. The reason for the title "don't wait, do it now" is the last time I saw my Uncle Don, he said stop over and see me and I said I would.. But I could not remember where he lived, so thanks to FaceBook I am friends with my cousin Brenda, his daughter, and she gave me directions. So went I knocked on his door I could tell Uncle Don and Aunt Linda were surprised!! My point in all this is , if you ever lost a friend or family member and said to yourself "I was going to" or "wish I would have done that"! Do it now, Don't wait.... Thanks Uncle Don for all the memories!

Thoughts become things!

People have asked me," How did you come up with the idea to do the ride for a cure?" Well, the honest truth is the idea came to me while I was sleeping. The more good you do for this world, the world will give back to you. Some call it Karma, I call it "power of attraction" and just being thankful for who or what I have in my life.
I have a good day everyday with family and friends all around me! Everyone has been so supportive, There is so much good in my life now that I want to give back!
As I continue to talk about the purpose of my ride, you will hear me refer to my "Brothers". My brother died as a infant, his name is John. I never had the opportunity to know him since he was born before me, so when I speak of my "brothers" it will be my male friends that are like family to me-- Cowboy, Boesy, Bobby, BooBoo, Marty, Tripod, Buns, Charlie C, Rick, Terry, Tubby, Jake and Frog, Bonehead too and of course my Bro's- in- law Jerome, Ron and David. My "Brothers" include anyone that has affected my life or I have Riden with. As the T-shirt says, "Brotherhood of Bikers!" Thanks cousin Bill Brown for the biker life style..
Love u all! And if I have missed any one, well its early in the morning.

Great weekend!

Spent this past weekend with family and friends. Was in Cleveland at Ray Swetlin's graduation party this past weekend. My sisters all got home from their vacation in the OuterBanks safely!! I'm going to hit some golf balls today and have lunch with my sister, Barb.
39 days until I leave for a very LONG and emotionally important ride for me. Recently, I met Adalyn Lutz, who instantly inspired me. She is a 2 year old battling cancer and will WIN!! I put her on My Honor list and I will carry a picture of her sitting on my motorcycle the entire ride so as to never forget who makes my world and this ride possible. Every person that touches our lives make us who we are! A special thanks to everyone who have given me permission to place their name or a loved one's name on my list. You are ALL important to me and your families. Carpe Diem!

50 Days till my Ride

50 days until my ride starts. The overwhelming support from, family, friends, well-wishers and riders from coast to coast is inspirational. Even though the purpose of my ride is personal, I can feel it touches a personal note in so many others as well. Tonight I'll be at Bike Night at Carmie's with my son, Josh, so stop on by so we can share stories of the road.
