Tail of the Dragon
I just returned on June 26th from a ride through the Smoky Mountains to the Tail of the Dragon which was an awesome ass ride. Tail of the Dragon is in North Carolina/Tennessee and it has 318 curves over 11 miles. They say the Tail is full of danger, but if you ride your own ride it's safe. This was Laura's first long distance ride; 1297 miles. She did great!-- except for a few screams in my ear when the semis blew by while riding through the rain. This was a warm-up for my Honor Ride 4 A Cure of 5000 miles. The long ride will bring a variety of weather to deal with, adventures along the way and many new friends. As the gray beards would say, "Ride hard or stay home."
Welcome Power of One Bloggers!
Welcome. This blog will be my way to stay in touch with everyone as I journey 5000 miles on my solo motorcycle ride to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. I'm starting my trek August 19th so if you have any ideas, comments, thoughts, humor-(I know I will need some of that as the journey goes on), pictures or anecdotes you care to share, please do! For right now, I am busy getting my bike in a safe working mode and selling many tshirts to promote my cause and journey. I will be more than happy to take any advice you may have about preparing for and undertaking such a long ride. Thanks to all of you for your love and support. Stay in touch. Jim
